To Develop a space exploration MMO in which players assume the role of astronauts and perform realistic missions to astrological bodies. The game will be set at a near future point after the invention of Single Stage To Orbit launches. Where craft can be constructed in orbit at a fraction of the cost.

Players will work as a team of any size and from many different nations. Using Spacecraft inspired by real concept designs, theywill have to maintain the ship, as well as themselves, during each mission. We aim to provide an approximation of the life and duties of a crew during such hypothetical future spaceflights. The game will boast an extensive interaction system, with both the crew and the Spacecraft being a series of subsystems in which everything functions as you would expect, and ceases to function correctly if damaged or poorly maintained:

Pipes will carry resources such as Oxygen, Water and Fuel, valves and switches will all work. damage will cause leaks, computer system failures, false sensor readings, or worse decompression. Things will need to be repaired at the expense of spare parts. Players will utilize detailed multi-function ingame computer systems to control the Spacecrafts subsystems: From the composition of the air to Local and Transfer maneuvers, to the camera systems throughout the ship. video feed will be utilised to check for damage after a collision or a solar radiation spike. Feed from spacesuit helmet cameras can be used guide crew members during EVA or landing missions. If the camera is damaged, you will lose the feed...

Resources will have to be carefully managed during missions. Food, water, Oxygen, Fuel, Carbon Dioxide, Waste, Spare Parts, are just a few examples of the considerations a crew must be aware of.  The duration of landing missions will be determined by how much breathable air a crew brings with them. The ships Botanist will have to carefully manage the Hydroponics greenhouses aboard. and the Pilots will have to plan efficient use of their fuel within a realistic model of orbital mechanics.

All the while other crews are out there too, conducting their own missions and experiments. Maybe you call pool resources? Maybe you are stranded, running out of Oxygen. Will someone answer your distress beacon? Will they be willing to sacrifice parts for you? Will crews come together in a spirit of altruistic discovery, or become opportunistic profiteers towards other crews and try to take their spacecraft by force as salvage?

Discoveries made by players, in both exploration and scientific experimentation will directly affect the advances in technology and updates to the game. With Canon being created by real players from day 1. Will you be the first person to succesfully reach the Kupier belt? what about going beyond our solar system? The technical and logistic hurdles may be great but every mission, every discovery, will bring you ever closer to greatness.

We hope you will join us in this endeavor...

2014- Ground Control
The game is currently in early development and concept phase, with a very very early pre-alpha build.

We are a ragtag bunch of Computer Science students who want to make a great game.

We hope to launch a kickstarter in the near future to raise funds toward full time development and ultimately release.

Your support for this game would mean so much to us here at Ground Control and we hope you will come with us on what is sure to be one hell of an adventure.
